Anfield-bound? Liverpool still keen to sign 'excellent' €24m Madrid sensation; Contact made already

Liverpool continue to be linked with new left-backs, and alongside Sead Kolasinac, the Reds are reportedly monitoring one of La Liga's most promising full-backs.

Last month a report on Spanish radio network Cadena Ser claimed that Liverpool have asked Atletico Madrid about the feasibility of signing 19-year old left-back Theo Hernandez, who is currently on loan at Alaves. According to Sky Sports today:

"Real, Liverpool and Marseille are among Hernandez's current suitors and he has hinted that he would not be averse to a future switch"

Spanish newspaper AS claimed over the weekend that Liverpool are 'monitoring' Hernandez'.

Some info about 'excellent' Hernandez:

* 19-year old Atletico Madrid left-back. Currently on loan at Alaves. £21m buyout clause.

* 28 apps for Alaves this season (4 assists). No senior apps for Atletico.

* 16 apps for various France youth teams.

* Jan 2017: Diego Simeone enthused: "Theo has grown accordingly. Power, physical strength, changing pace from midfield looking forward. We are happy about what is happening to him."

* Mar 2017: Hernandez insisted: "In the summer I will return to Atletico. I watch all their games, and now in June I will be returning there. I am very happy and motivated for that."

Meh. In my view, Kolasinac is a superior option as he's older (24 in June); more experienced (copious international and European experience), and is arguably more likely to hit the ground running.
