Deal Close: Liverpool in advanced talks with Barcelona over 'amazing' £70m attacker. Done Deal soon?

After his recent slump, Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho is back in business with with four goals/assists in his last three games, but new reports this week claim once again that the Brazilian is on the verge of signing for Barcelona.

Neymar appears to be having the week off from publicly tapping up Coutinho, but in his stead, the Spanish media continues to claim that Barcelona are intent on sealing a deal this summer.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport:

"Barcelona are in advanced talks with Liverpool about signing Coutinho, and all that remains is the final step to agreeing the deal".

Barcelona are so desperate to seal the deal that they're reportedly willing to include one of their top players in the deal. Last week, Don Balon reported:

"Coutinho is a priority for Barcelona, and they plan to include Ivan Rakitic as part of the deal in aid to lower the Coutinho's fee".

Rakitic is not a like-for-like replacement for Coutinho, but given his quality and experience, the Croatian will undoubtedly strengthen Liverpool's first-team.

Is he a Klopp-type player, though? I doubt it. Whenever I see Rakitic play, he doesn't run around like a headless chicken trying to rack up his regulation 12 miles a game, so Klopp probably won't be interested.

Liverpool fans are certainly keen on some kind of swap deal. I conducted a poll recently asking fans if Liverpool should try and get Rakitic as part of a deal for Coutinho, and 58% of participants voted YES.

* Coutinho: Liverpool reportedly willing to sell for £70m. Hailed as 'amazing' by Joel Matip.
