Season Over? Klopp reveals bad news about 'fantastic' €60m Liverpool star; 'scan' for 'ligament damage' needed

Reds fans were aghast to see 'fantastic' Liverpool talisman Sadio Mane limp off the field against Everton, and Jurgen Klopp has now revealed some further details about the Senegalese attacker's injury.

Speaking to reporters after the deserved 3-1 victory over Everton, Klopp admitted that 'it doesn't look like he’ll be ready for Wednesday', and added:

“Hopefully it’s not that serious. He has pain and it didn’t look like it’s only a knock or a muscle or something, but we have to wait. He’s already had treatment, and it didn’t look like he felt comfortable.”

That's Mane out for a least a month, then. Seriously, whenever Klopp says the words 'it's not that serious' in relation to an injury, it always turns into a long layoff.

He's used that description to describe injuries to Sturridge, Henderson, Coutinho, Matip, and Lallana this season, and each time, the player ended up being on the sidelines for over a month.

It's the proverbial Klopp 'kiss of death' ;-)

That said, maybe Klopp is right this time. According to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo:

"No knee brace or crutches for Sadio Mane, who said "I'm okay" as he walked through mixed zone. A scan will determine if any ligament damage".

If Mane sustained a serious injury, he'd surely be on crutches and/or sporting some kind of knee support? On the other hand, it sometimes takes up to 24 hours for the full extent of a knee injury to become known (after swelling subsides etc), so he's not out of the woods yet.
