Lampard raves: 'World-class' £60m attacker can take Liverpool to the 'next level'. Transfer 'tempting'

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has urged Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho to reject a big money move to La Liga this summer.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo over the weekend, Lampard hailed Coutinho as a 'world-class' player, and advised him to stick with Liverpool:

"Dangling the carrot [of Barcelona] is probably quite tempting, but why go there and be behind the likes of Messi and whoever might be there? [He should] stay at Liverpool and be their main man and help them up to the next level".

Similar arguments were made during Luis Suarez's last season, but the various exhortations from ex-players, team-maters and fans made no difference to the Uruguayan's decision.

The same will probably happen Coutinho. His idol, Ronaldinho, played for Barcelona, and last season, he told reporters:

"I know what Barcelona look for and he [Coutinho] has those qualities. Barcelona and Coutinho would be the perfect fit".

It's reasonable to assume that Ronaldinho's words carry a lot of weight with Coutinho, and I'm sure he's desperate to follow in the footsteps of all the great Brazilian players who've graced the Nou Camp over the years.

Combine that with the endless tapping up from various Barca players (most frequently Neymar), and it'll take a lot of will power for Coutinho to reject such a dream transfer.

* Coutinho: £60m-rated.
