Anfield Update: Coach confirms 'Liverpool' transfer for 'fantastic' €40m Brazil sensation is definitely a no-go

Liverpool are currently linked with an exciting move for 'fantastic' Bayern Munich star Douglas Costa, but is there any real possibility of Jurgen Klopp enticing the Brazilian attacker to Anfield this summer?

On Monday, Munich-based newspaper Abendzeitung claimed:

* Liverpool are interested ins signing €40m-rated Costa.

* Spurs and Juve are also interested, but Liverpool are favourites to to seal the deal.

When asked this week about the possibility of Costa signing for Liverpool, Lucas Cruel, Costa's friend, and personal fitness coach, told Sport1:

"No way! Douglas will not go to Liverpool. He prefers to stay at Bayern. It’s a good life here."

It's reasonable to assume that Costa discuss football with Cruel during their frequent interactions, so there's probably some veracity to his emphatic claim.

In March, Costa admitted that he's 'not happy' at Bayern, but from his point of view, there's (arguably) no compelling reason to swap Bayern for Liverpool.

Like Barca, Juve, and Real Madrid, Bayern are guaranteed to challenge for the biggest trophies every single year, and it's been that way for decades. Conversely, there are no such guarantees at LFC, and the Reds can't even offer a consistent record of qualifying for the Champions League.

Of course, this transfer rumour will become instantaneously moot if Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League this season, which, unfortunately, no longer in the club's hands.
