Replace Sturridge? Liverpool reps fly out to watch 'extraordinary' record-breaking €20m striker

Liverpool scouts appear to be extremely busy at the moment, and new reports claim that Jurgen Klopp continues to covet players from one of the Bundesliga's most in-form teams.

According to the Daily Mail:

"Liverpool have checked on RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner. LFC scouts have watched Leipzig for over a year and Werner has grabbed their attention".

Some info about €20m-rated Werner, who is nicknamed 'Turbo Timo' by the media:

* 21-year old striker, who can also play on either wing. Contract expires: 2020

* Stuttgart: 25 goals/assists in 103 apps (One every 230 mins)

* Leipzig: 21 goals/assists in 24 apps (One every 87 mins)

* Aug 2013: Became Stuttgart's youngest ever player. Also the youngest player in Bundesliga history to reach the 100 game milestone.

* Dec 2016: Widely slammed for diving to win a penalty against Shalke, for which he later apologised for the dive: "It is a dive, full stop. It was a bad thing for me to do and I'm sorry."

* Feb 2017: Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhüttl claimed: "Timo is currently the best German striker, and he has qualities that are extraordinary".

Thanks but no thanks. If Werner is deliberately and cynically diving at the age of 21, then it's already in his blood, and the last thing Liverpool need is another cheat. This won't matter to some fans, but it matters to me.

Plus, this is Werner's first season as a prolific goalscorer, and instead of taking the plunge at the age of 21, it makes sense to see if he can replicate his form over a couple of seasons.
