Great News for Klopp: Liverpool can sign 'brilliant' £20m title winner for just £12m. Done deal this summer?

Liverpool are reportedly preparing to pick the bones out of relegation-threatened Leicester City during the upcoming summer transfer window, and new reports suggests that one of Klopp's targets may be available for a cut-price transfer fee.

Last month, the Daily Mail reported:

"Liverpool are monitoring Leicester’s Demarai Gray as they start to formulate their plans for a summer overhaul".

According to the The Mirror today:

"Leicester could lose Demarai Gray this summer for as little as £12m. That is the buyout figure written into his Foxes contract, with Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham all monitoring his situation".

Some info about Gray:

* 20-year old left-winger. Can also play on the RW. Contract expires: 2020

* Leicester: 2 goals/6 assists in 46 apps (Goal every 840 mins. G/A every 210 mins.

* Birmingham: 8 goals/4 assists in 78 apps (One every 415 mins).

* Jan 2016: Martin O'Neill raved: "He is brilliant at taking players on, coming from the left into one vs. one. It doesn't matter who he is up against".

If the Reds' interest is real, then it just shows yet again that the club is planning to persist with the failed 'buy 'em young' policy, which continues to yield zero results for the club. Liverpool need the finished article in several positions, not more players with potential to come good in 4-5 years.

That said, £12m is infinitely preferable to £20m, which - according to ex-Birmingham boss Gary Rowett - is what Gray is worth. Apart from being British, which comes with the inevitable homegrown transfer tax, it's hard to see why Gray is worth £20m.
