Get Rid of Him: Aldo tells Jurgen Klopp to dump €31m Liverpool star and sign a 'top quality' replacement

After another middling season, is it time for Liverpool striker Divock Origi to leave Anfield?

Reds legend John Aldridge seems to think so. In his column for Liverpool Echo this week, Aldo conceded that it's time for Daniel Sturridge to leave, and suggested Klopp also 'needs to move Origi on', and sign 'two top quality strikers'. He explained:

“Origi looks like a player who has lost all his confidence. When everything went wrong for Liverpool, Klopp needed Sturridge and Origi to come to the party with goals and inspiration, but they provided nothing".

To be fair, it's hardly surprising if Origi has lost confidence. Earlier in the season, he scored in 5 consecutive games, but after just two games without scoring, Klopp dumped him on the bench, and that's where he's been ever since.

Origi probably believed that scoring in 5 consecutive games might've earned him some credit with Klopp, and an extended run in the team, but no such luck.

I'm no great fan of Origi, but I am in favour of the merit system, and the Belgian striker arguably earned the right to an extended run in the team. Instead, in another display of questionable man-management, Klopp discarded Origi, and failed to build on his goalscoring momentum.

In my view, Origi's season is basically over, and injuries notwithstanding, he'll probably have to make do with cameo appearances from the bench for the rest of the campaign.
