Inside Info: Legend claims Liverpool will sign 'brilliant' £30m star this summer to replace error-prone international

Is this finally the end for Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet?

According to Newcastle legend Mickey Quinn, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is intent on replacing the Belgian this summer. Speaking to Talksport today, Quinn claimed:

"What I know is that Simon Mignolet could be on his with, and Joe Hart could be coming in".

Quinn is a Liverpudlian ex-pro, so it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he has some inside info on Liverpool's transfer plans this summer. On the other hand, it's entirely possible that Quinn may just be parroting what he's heard in the media. He further added:

"There’s a lot of money to spend on five or 6 high profile players. Liverpool are going to be very positive in the summer"

That sounds great...for a generalised transfer soundbyte that anyone could come up with. A good way to gauge the accuracy of Quinn's alleged inside knowledge is to look at his past claims:

* Mar 2016: Quinn claimed: "Ignacio Camacho, Lucas Moura and Granit Xhaka are all on the [Liverpool] hit list, and if he [Klopp] gets them, it’ll be an exciting season".

* Nov 2016: Quinn told Talksport: “I believe they [Liverpool] are interested in [Virgil] Van Dijk, when the transfer window opens up”.

To be fair, clubs pursue lots of different players, and oftentimes, transfers fail to go through; that doesn't mean, however, that the initial reported interest was inaccurate. Take Diego Costa, for example - Liverpool were heavily linked with him during the 2013-14 season, but he ended up Chelsea. Months after signing, Costa publicly confirmed that he rejected a move to Anfield.

* Hart: Described by Gareth Southgate as 'brilliant'. £30m-rated .
