'New Bale' to Anfield? Klopp keen to sign 'excellent' £15m record-breaker. Liverpool favourites to sign

Liverpool remain interested in signing one of the rising stars of the Championship.

Earlier this month, The Mirror claimed that Liverpool are in 'pole position' to sign Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon, and according to the Daily Mail:

"Sessegnon has been scouted many times, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, City and Bayern interested [in a transfer]".

Liverpool were also linked with Sessegnon in September 2016, when the Express claimed that the Reds made and 'official enquiry' about the £15-rated attacker. Some info about Sessegnon, who is nicknamed the 'new Gareth Bale':

* 16-year old left-back. Can also play left-wing. Contract expires:

* This season: 7 goals/assists in 18 apps for Fulham.

* Aug 2016: Became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Championship.

* Sep 2016: Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic enthused: "We believe he [Sessegnon] has a very bright future. Always when I give him the chance, he is performing at a good level".

* Jan 2017: Fulham teammate, Stefan Johansen raved: "It's 99 per cent certain he [Sessegnon] will be one of the top left-backs in the world. He is an excellent player".

It has to be said - it's impressive to see a 16-year old playing regularly in the physical maelstrom of the Championship, and not only playing well, but making a specific, measurable contribution. I can rarely muster up enthusiasm about teenage prospects with comparatively little experience, but Sessegnon clearly has talent. Worth pursuing?
