Next Torres? Liverpool keen to sign 'excellent' goal-machine who idolises €78m attacker

Liverpool had a quiet transfer window, but new reports today suggest the Reds tried to sign one of Inter Milan's brightest talents.

According to The Mirror:

"Liverpool have missed out on Inter Milan wonderkid Andrea Pinamonti. Able to link with the midfield and work the channels, Pinamonti moves similarly to Fernando Torres during his time at Anfield".

* 18-year old centre-forward. Contract expires: June 2017.

* Inter B: 18 goals/assists in 18 games (Primavera).

* International: 17 goals in 32 apps for various Italy youth teams.

* Dec 2017: Inter boss Stefano Pioli enthused: "He [Piamonti] has great quality. He’s a great pro and a humble person. I think he can be an excellent footballer for the future of Inter.”

* Dec 2016: Piamonti admitted: "Who inspires me? My role model is Mauro Icardi"

* Dec 2016: Reportedly in negotiations with Inter to sign a new deal with a 'huge release clause'.

* Jan 2017: Spurs reps reportedly met with Piamonti's agent to discuss a possible transfer.

Meh. Another in the never-ending conveyor belt of allegedly amazing young talents who may or may not come good at some undetermined point in the future. If Klopp had sealed this deal on deadline day, I doubt there would've been much enthusiasm amongst the Liverpool fanbase.

Perhaps Klopp will go in for Piamonti again in the summer?

* Icardi: €78m-rated (CIES Football Observatory)
