Klopp confirms: 'Exceptional' £20m powerhouse may play for Liverpool next season; transfer a 'good thing' right now

Does Mamadou Sakho still have a future at Liverpool?

The £20m-rated defender joined Crystal Palace on loan this week, and when asked today whether Sakho will return in the summer, Jurgen Klopp told reporters:

"Who knows what [happens] in half a year? In this moment, he is on loan and that means he still has a contract at Liverpool, so that's a good thing. That's a solution for the moment and we can wait for new impressions and then see what happens".

Klopp's comments are standard fare for managers; he's hardly going publicly state that Sakho has no future at Liverpool, so he's taken the typical 'who knows' approach. Sakho appears to be satisfied with his move, and speaking to reporters after sealing the deal, he enthused:

"I’m really happy to sign here. I train with the second team at Liverpool. I have my own fitness coach to do some extra. It’s a new page for me and I will try to give my best, like I always do. When I have a new shirt, I always give my best.”

Sakho's contract expires in 2020, but after being treated like a pariah by Klopp, I doubt the he's stupid enough to take a giant gamble with his career and return to Anfield in the summer.

^ Hailed by Gary Lineker as an 'exceptional defender'.
