Shock Change: Legend urges Klopp to replace €60m Liverpool 'superstar' with 'fantastic' Brit sensation for the AFCON

Reds legend John Aldridge has urged Jurgen Klopp to make a shock change to the team for Liverpool's upcoming games.

In his column for the Liverpool Echo this week, Aldo claimed that one of the club's 'fantastic' academy players is capable of filling the Sadio Mane void. He explained:

"Why not throw Trent Alexander-Arnold in there until Mane comes back? The lad is quick, has played in midfield at youth level and we need someone there with pace to stretch teams like Mane does".

Obvious Scouse solidarity notwithstanding, this is a stretch to say the least, though such a change will fit perfectly with Klopp's 'square pegs in round holes' policy.

Liverpool already have a wide player (Firmino) playing upfront; a midfielder (Milner) playing at left-back; two attacking midfielders (Lallana and Wijnaldum) playing in central midfield, and a striker (Origi), regularly playing out wide, so playing a right-back on the wing is a natural progression.

Whilst he's at it, Klopp should bring Sheyi Ojo in as a makeshift left-back, and play Ben Woodburn as a holding midfielder. But seriously...

If Liverpool have to contemplate playing an untested Academy right-back out wide to cover for Sadio Mane, then it's proof positive that Klopp has totally failed to address the situation effectively. As Aldo notes:

"Could we really afford to leave the team without a real Mane replacement? We knew he would be missing for a few months when we signed him".

If any of Liverpool's defenders are to be converted into attacking wide players, then Alberto Moreno is surely the most obvious choice.
