Confirmed Teams: Liverpool suffer Late injury blow; Klopp dumps 'exciting' £25m star; surprise start for Academy sensation

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made several changes for today's EFL semi-final with Southampton.

FULL TEAM: Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Matip, Milner, Henderson, Can, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge

SUBS: Mignolet, Moreno, Lucas, Origi, Klavan, Woodburn, Wijnaldum

SOUTHAMPTON: Forster, Cedric, Yoshid, Stephens, Bertrand, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Davis, Tadic, Redmond, Rodriguez

* As expected, Joel Matip comes back into the starting lineup at the expense of Ragnar Klavan.

* According to LFC: "Nathaniel Clyne is absent from tonight's squad due to a rib/abdominal injury".

* Clearly, Clyne has suffered a recurrence of his rib issue as a direct result of being rushed back early from his previous injury.

* Despite his poor recent form, Emre Can is in the starting lineup yet again. This means that when faced with a direct choice between Can and Wijnaldum for a place in the team, Klopp chose Can *shudder*

* With Wijnaldum out, it looks like Lallana will revert play alongside Hendo and Can in midfield.

* It's good to see Sturridge in the starting lineup, but after Firmino's double against Swansea, he'll probably start upfront, with Sturridge move out wide, where he's generally ineffective.

Of course, Klopp could've played Moreno at left-back, Milner on the right of a front three, and left Can out altogether, but that solution is obviously way too 'out there'. Probable formation:

-------------- Karius
Arnold -- Lovren - Matip ---- Milner
--- Lallana -- Hendo ---- Can
-- Sturridge - Firmino - Coutinho

^ Wijnaldum: Hailed by Klopp for his 'exciting' potential. Cost £25m
