Record Transfer: Liverpool reps fly out to watch 'brilliant' €60m striker who smashed 88-year goal record

Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign the 'great hope of Portuguese football'.

According to Sky Sports today:

"Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and both Manchester clubs sent scouts to watch Porto striker Andre Silva at the weekend, and all are pondering bids for the Portugal international".

This follows a report last month TV station Nova Sport, which claimed:

"Liverpool are interested in signing Andre Silva, and Porto president Pinto da Costa is looking for a record transfer fee".

Some info about Silva, recently hailed by ex-Porto boss Rafael Santos as 'brilliant':

* 21-year old striker. Can also play as a no.10. Predictably nicknamed the new 'Deco'.

* Porto: 19 goals/assists in 35 apps (One every 142 mins). This season: 13 goals/assists in 21 apps (One every 121 mins)

* Scouting Report (Strengths): "Well-built and brave. Guile and intelligent positioning. Skilful feet, a sharp football brain, and excellent link-up play. Not averse to working the flanks and has decent crossing ability".

* Scouting Report (Weaknesses): "Not the fastest, so may not thrive in a counter-attacking side. He could add a tad more aggression to his play".

* Aug 2016: Signed a new 5-year deal which contains a €60m buyout clause.

* Oct 2016: Broke an 88-year old record when he scored a hat-trick in a World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands, making him the youngest Portuguese international to ever achieve.

Porto have a history of selling youngsters for big bucks, and Silva (along with Ruben Neves) will inevitably become the next homegrown player to sell for a massive transfer fee. I can't see Klopp spending €60m on a single player, but you never know.
