Mystery Solved: Jurgen Klopp finally reveals the truth about 'wonderful' €14m Liverpool star

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has finally cleared up the mystery over Marko Grujic's continued absence from Liverpool's match-day squad.

When asked today why Grujic is frequently missing from the squad, Klopp told reporters:

"He [Grujic] has a tendon injury. They [the Medical department] told me it was round about three weeks out, so he is already on the way back, but not back".

Grujic last featured for Liverpool on November 29th, when he came on as a 90th minute sub against Leeds in the EFL (talk about an utterly pointless substitution!)

If he was fit enough to make the bench for that game, then it suggests that he incurred the injury after that, which means he probably won't be back in action until Christmas week.

Grujic's first six months at Anfield have been beset with niggling issues (concussion, a virus, an ankle injury, and now the tendon issue), and the more time he spends on the sidelines, the harder it will be to break into the team.

Despite Grujic's lack of playing time, Jurgen Klopp has already identified the key area in which the Serb must improve. In a recent interview, he noted:

“If [Grujic's] defensive skills had the same quality as the offensive skills then he will be an outstanding player. We are working on it".

Grujic has also conceded that he needs to improve his defensive work:

"When I came from the Serbian league, I didn’t really do a lot of defensive things. I know that. Klopp wants me to do more in defence. He has said that".

Right now, Grujic is Markovic MK 2, but does he have what it takes to exceed his compatriot and become a success at Anfield?

* Grujic: €14m-rated. Hailed by Klopp as a 'wonderful' player.
