Deals Close? Klopp reveals 'transfer' talks and confirms Liverpool will 'try everything' to sign players 'if needed'

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he has discussed possible January signings with the club's scouting department.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp bemoaned the 'unlucky' loss of Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino and Sturridge at the same time, and suggested that he's ready to bring in 'young players' from the club's Academy to cover. However, Klopp also added:

“I sat with...our scouting department, speaking ‘which for winter, which for summer'. If we need someone, we will try everything we can to do it. I don’t need 20 options. I need the right options. For me, it’s really difficult to be part of this transfer market".

In my view, if Liverpool have genuine designs on winning the title this season, then one or two experienced reinforcements are required in January.

* Coutinho is out until mid-to-late January, and he'll then need time to get back up to full match fitness.

* Mane will be missing for much of January due to the African Cup of Nations.

* Sturridge hasn't trained for over a week, and if that continues, he could be out for a few weeks yet (and possibly into January).

* Firmino and Lallana are on the way back, but they won't be 100% for for a couple of games yet.

Then, there's always the possibility that Liverpool will pick up further injuries, and if Origi, Milner, or Matip, or Henderson go down (or a combination of those players) the team will have serious problems.

Last season, Klopp basically gambled on his existing squad and decided against bringing in January reinforcements. His decision backfired, and Liverpool ended up limping to 8th place in the league. Hopefully, he won't make the same mistake twice.

Should Klopp bring in any players in January, or are Ejaria, Woodburn, Stewart, Arnold etc capable of providing effective cover?
