Message to Klopp: Legend claims Liverpool 'need' to sign 'outstanding' midfielder and 'another center-back'. Agree?

Ex-Red Craig Bellamy has urged Jurgen Klopp to strengthen his squad during the january transfer window.

Speaking to TalkSport over the weekend, Welsh legend Bellamy dismissed Liverpool's chances of winning the league, and claimed that the Reds have to bolster the squad in two key areas to improve the club's title chances. He explained:

"They [Liverpool] are amazing going forward, I just feel they’re one or two players short. They need an outstanding defensive midfielder, and maybe another centre-back".

The idea that Liverpool need to improve defensively is recurring theme this season, and looking at the goals conceded column, there's obviously merit to that view.

Central defence, especially, is (arguably) an area that can benefit from improvements. With Joel Matip (imperious this season), Dejan Lovren (Capable of imperious performances, like Everton last night, for example), and Ragnar Klavan (dependable and consistent), Liverpool have an excellent trio of central defenders.

However, Matip and Lovren are prone to niggling injuries:

* Lovren: 6 injuries since signing in 2014 (128 days out/21 games missed)

* Matip: 3 injuries already since signing for LFC (6 games missed so far)

As a consequence of these injuries, Klopp has struggled to field a consistent defensive partnership, with Lovren/Matip playing together consecutively only four times this season. It's hard to build defensive consistency with a constantly changing central defensive partnership, so if Klopp brings in another centre-half, it'll hopefully be someone who is rarely injured.
