Transfer Boost: Liverpool can sign 'extraordinary' striker who's like 'Ibrahimovic' for £14m. Contact made already

One of Liverpool's January transfer targets is reportedly available for a comparatively cut-price transfer fee.

Last month, an alleged exclusive in Calciomercato claimed:

* PSG, Liverpool and Juventus are all fighting to sign Isak, who plays for Swedish side AIK Solna.

* Liverpool have 'made contact to sign' Isak, but AIK will not sell for less than '€15m-€16m'.

According to the Daily Mail this weekend:

"AIK are prepared to sell Isak for a Swedish record of £14m".

AIK already appear to be preparing for Isak's departure, and in a recent interview, AIK sporting director Bjorn Wesstrom told Fotbolldirekt:

"Now that he has made the breakthrough, Alexander will leave for a big fee. Now or in the next transfer window he will be sold".

Some info about Isak:

* 17-year old striker. 14 goals/assists in 29 apps for AIK. Current contract expires: 2018.

* On his role for AIK: "I am part of building the attack. You can play ball into my feet, and I can bring other players into the game".

* On his attacking role models: "I look up to Ibrahimovic, and [fellow Eritrean] Henok Goitom, of course".

* Sep 2016: Isak's Agent, Patrick Mork, raved: "He is an extraordinary talent. Name five of Europe's biggest clubs and there are four who want him".

* Sep 2016: Ricard Norling's assessment [AIK's head coach]: "He has a terrific talent, but the important thing is to make sure that he's doing something to bring out the talent. He works hard every day."

With so much competition from Europe's 'biggest clubs', Liverpool probably have little chance of signing Isak, who - judging by the effusive praise and transfer interest - appears to be this year's Martin Odegaard.

After Odegaard's struggles at the Bernabeu, Isak would surely be insane to sign for Real Madrid, though he'd probably struggle just as much for game time at Anfield.

Isak is better off staying where he is.
