Xavi raves: 'Special' €53m Liverpool star is one of the best players 'in Europe'

Another day, another Barcelona player praising Liverpool talisman Philippe Coutinho.

When asked this week about the Coutinho transfer speculation, Xavi - who basically spent his entire career at the Nou Camp - described the Brazilian as 'special', and insisted he'd 'gone up a level' under Jurgen Klopp.

Xavi further raved:

"On form, there are not any better players in Europe. Technically he [Coutinho] is very good, and he would suit Barcelona's philosophy well."

Coutinho seems destined to end up at Barcelona, but according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague this week:

“Barcelona love Coutinho but they have no strategy to sign him. Neymar would like them to sign him and Coutinho himself is interested, but at the moment, it’s all media talk".

Coutinho had a bit of an off day against Southampton on Saturday, but after flying thousands of miles during the week, this is to be expected.

Plus, after weighing in with 12 goals/assists in 12 games, he is entitled to expect someone else to step-up and make the difference. Alas, that didn't happen, but the Reds remain top of the league, so all's well that ends well.
