Anfield Update: 'Outstanding' £10m Liverpool target confirms Agent 'contact'. Talks ongoing over 'contract'

Liverpool's chances of signing Schalke star Sead Kolasinac appear to be dissipating.

Earlier this month, German newspaper Bild claimed that the Reds are tracking Kolasinac (who was previously linked with a move to Anfield in April), but when asked over the weekend about his future, the Serbian left-back revealed:

“[Schalke chief Christian] Heidel has already contacted my agent over prolonging my contract. There is no time pressure. I feel good here and Schalke is a great club."

Some info about Kolasinac, hailed as 'outstanding' by ex-Schalke boss Jens Keller:

* left-back, who can also play as a DM, and a centre-back. Played alongside Liverpool defender Joel Matip at Schalke.

* Apr 2014: Kolasinac rejected a move to Man Utd. At the time, he confirmed: "Yes, I have offer from Manchester United, but I will not hurry with the decision".

* Dec 2015: Kolasinac's agent noted: "Great Premier League clubs such as Manchester City are watching. He would cost about €8m."

* Apr 2016: Talksport claimed: "Kolasinac has been watched several times by Liverpool and an offer is expected".

* Nov 2016: Kolasinac told reporters: "It [a transfer] must be good for both sides. I have no time pressure."

Klopp is well aware of Kolasinac from his Bundesliga days, and given the fact he played alongside Joel Matip for 4 years, a transfer appears to make sense.

£10m-rated Kolasinac's contract expires in June 2017, so tying him down to a new deal also makes sense, and will ensure that he can't leave for free next summer.

Shalke already lost millions by allowing Matip to leave for free, and they won't want to make the same mistake twice.
