Legend claims: FSG will allow Klopp to make 'big money' Liverpool signing in 'January'

Liverpool legend Ronnie Whelan claims that Jurgen Klopp's transfer influence is growing at Anfield.

Speaking to the Independent this week, Whelan - who won 14 major trophies during his time at Anfield - insisted:

"If he wanted to this January, Klopp could ask for any amount of money he needs to buy a player, and I mean big money".

Whelan may well be right, especially if Liverpool are top of the league during the January transfer window (which is a possibility given the club's upcoming run of games).

The Reds are well placed to mount a sustained title challenge this season, but the question is, should Klopp rely on his current squad for the rest of the season, or bring in January reinforcements to maintain the club's momentum?

With no European football, this season arguably represents one the best chances in years for for the club to finally win the Premier League, so if the money is available, why not utilise it?

Whelan further enthused:

"Klopp has won the trust of everyone at Anfield to such an extent that he now has the level of autonomy that Alex Ferguson enjoyed at Old Trafford for so long".

Give me a break. Ferguson didn't have to work with a transfer committee, so he clearly had far more autonomy than Klopp. Plus, Ferguson's all-encompassing power came from sustained success, and thus far, Klopp hasn't won anything at Anfield.
