Legend insists: 'Exciting' £25m international is the 'perfect replacement' for Adam Lallana. Agree?

Who should replace Adam Lallana for Liverpool's Premier League clash with Southampton?

Last night, the Liverpool squad flew to Southampton in preparation for today's game, but Lallana stayed on Merseyside, and according to Reds legend Jan Molby:

"Wijnaldum will be the perfect replacement if Adam doesn’t make it. In a more advanced role [at Newcastle], he was good at breaking the lines, and you might just need that against a well-drilled Southampton side".

Like Wijnaldum, Klopp has deployed Lallana in central midfield this season, so this the most obvious solution, though it's debatable whether he'll be utilised as a more 'advanced role'.

Emre Can has confirmed several times this season that he is playing as a 'number 8', so in a midfield three, Can will probably end up operating as the most advanced central midfielder.

On a related note: Coutinho made the trip to Southampton with the squad, which possibly means that his injury (whatever it may be) is not that serious. Be that as it may, Klopp may decide to exercise caution and start him on the bench.

Both Wijnaldum and Can scored in Liverpool's last game, so hopefully one or both will step up again at St. Mary's.

^ Wijnaldum: Hailed by Klopp for his 'exciting' potential. Cost Liverpool £25m.
