Liverpool XI vs. Leeds: 6 players out; €23m misfit starts; shock debut for 'unbelievable' youngster?

Amid a burgeoning injury crisis, Liverpool face Leeds United in the League Cup quarter-final, and Jurgen Klopp is poised to make a number of changes.

Klopp's Pre-match updates:

* On Lallana: "Adam is in a very good way, close to team training but that means in the same moment that he is not ready for the [Leeds] game".

* On Sturridge: “Daniel is not in team training, so it means then it is the same [i.e. not ready for Leeds]".

* On Firmino: "we have to wait. Yesterday it [the injury] was still painful. I think it will be OK but I’m not sure at the moment".

* On Coutinho: "We have to wait for a final scan and then we'll know how long it will be. Then, we have to take it like it is.”

* On Leeds: "They are in a really good moment - they’re a football playing side and they will force us into a lot of things, so we need to work in this game, there’s no alternative".

* On Mignolet: "He will play, 100%".

* Joe Gomez played 90 minutes for the U23s on Monday, so he will not feature in tonight's game. Danny Ings on the sidelines.

* John Aldridge's view: "It won’t be easy, if we’re not up for it or make too many changes, well we’ve seen things happen. It could be a banana skin but it gives the players a chance to show the manager they can break into his squad".

Given the injury situation, Klopp will have no choice but to make lots of changes. Possible line-up:

------------ Mignolet
Arnold --- Lucas - Klavan ---- Moreno
--- Grujic --- Can --- Stewart
---- Mane --- Origi -- Wijnaldum

Perhaps Klopp will spring a major surprise and give 'unbelievable' academy star Ben Woodburn his full debut...?

* Mignolet: €23m-rated (CIES)
