Confirmed Team News: 'Fantastic' international out for the 'season' with ACL injury; €28m Liverpool star to miss Sunderland

One of Liverpool's key players this season is set to miss Saturday's Premier League clash with Sunderland.

Adam Lallana missed last week's 0-0 draw against Southampton, and according to the Liverpool Echo:

"There was no sign of Adam Lallana [in training] who is expected to miss the game with the groin injury suffered on international duty".

Last weekend, Jurgen Klopp predicted that Lallana will miss '2-3 games' so his absence this weekend is no surprise whatsoever.

Lallana, and Ings aside, Liverpool have no further injury worries, which puts the club a very strong position going into the fixture-intensive Christmas period.

As for Sunderland: David Moyes has confirmed summer signing Paddy McNair has suffered a cruciate ligament injury, and will be out for the rest of the season:

"We won’t see him [McNair] again this season. He probably won’t have his operation for over a week because he’s got a cut on his knee”.

Jack Rodwell and Fabio Borini are also missing for Sunderland.

On paper, Liverpool have more than enough quality, and squad strength to get win the game, and based on each team's form this season, a Liverpool victory seems highly probable.

* Lallana: Cost €28m-rated (CIES Football Observatory). McNair: Hailed as 'fantastic' by Louis Van Gaal
