Deal Close: 'Incredible' £75k-a-week Liverpool hero holds transfer 'discussions' with Euro Giants. Done deal soon?

Liverpool hero Steven Gerrard is reportedly close to sealing a deal to extend his playing career.

According to The Independent today:

* Inter Milan have held 'discussions' with Gerrard about a 6-month deal till the end of the season.

* The Italian giants first contacted Gerrard in October, prior to Frank De Boer's termination.

Gerrard is reportedly considering 'several playing and coaching proposals both in England and abroad', but a 6-month stint at one of Europe's most prestigious clubs will surely be an appealing prospect.

Unlike some of his contemporaries (David Beckham, and Ashley Cole, for example), Gerrard has never challenged himself in another European League, so this represents a great opportunity for one final playing hurrah.

Gerrard is only 36; that sounds old for a footballer, but with modern nutrition, medicine, and fitness, it's perfectly possible to a later age, and Serie - which is a much slower league than the Prem - may suit Gerrard down to the ground.

Just look at Francesco Totti - 40 years old and still going strong at Roma, and this season, the Italian already has 8 goals/assist in 9 games. If Totti can do it, why can't Gerrard...?

* Reportedly on £75k-a-week at LA Galaxy. Hailed this week by Brendan Rodgers as 'incredible'
