Anfield Alert: Boss responds to Liverpool rumours about 'sensational' €40m playmaker; confirms transfer is a no-go

Liverpool are currently linked with Borussia Monchengladbach (BMG) star Mahmoud Dahoud, but what are the chances of Jurgen Klopp sealing the deal in January.

Reports this week claim that Liverpool are planning a January offer for the 'sensational' midfielder, but according BMG director Max Eberl, there's little chances of that happening.

When asked on Wednesday about the Liverpool rumours, Eberl made following emphatic statement:

"There is a zero chance that Mahmoud will leave in January. It is the club's desire to extend his contract. We have not opened talks yet, but that will soon happen".

Eberl conceded, however, that things may change in the future:

"We will have to consider our options if he only has one year left on his contract next year, but that is pure speculation at this stage".

Last week, German newspaper Express claimed that Dahoud had rejected a contract extension, and if he maintain his stance, BMG will have no choice but to sell, or risk losing the €40m-rated midfielder for free.

Dahoud's contract expires in 2018, so if Klopp really wants him, he won't have to wait that long.
