Anfield Update: 'World-class' £65m superstar who'd only 'play for Liverpool' confirms plan to 'finish' career at Barcelona

What are the chances of 'world-class' striker Luis Suarez ever making a sensational return to Anfield?

When asked in February about a future transfer back to the Premier League, Suarez told reporters:

"You never know what will happen in the future. If I was to return to England, it would be to play for Liverpool – not for any other team. I’ve missed the fans. The atmosphere is incredible".

Well, whatever slim chance existed appears to be over now, as Suarez has confirmed he wants to play out his days at the Nou Camp. After picking up the Golden Shoe last night, the Uruguayan admitted:

"I hope I can finish my career at Barçelona"

The common perception that I'm 'anti-Suarez' is totally inaccurate. If that were true, I would've used the Patrice Evra situation to stick the knife in, but I defended Suarez instead, for one simple reason: I'm only interested in the facts, and I passionately believe that *everyone* is innocent until proven guilty.

Those principles underline everything I write on this site; I go where the facts take me, even if those facts conflict with my personal view of a player/manager (or indeed anyone). This also explains why I'd have Suarez back at Liverpool tomorrow. I've never doubted his ability, and he's been punished for his past indiscretions, so in legal parlance, his 'convictions' are now 'spent'.

It'll never happen, though, so fans will just have to make do with watching reruns of Suarez's many fantastic goals.
