Klopp to Sign? Liverpool want 'amazing' €30m maestro who's 'better than Modric'. Offer made already.

Liverpool are once again being linked with a move for 'amazing' Dinamo Zagreb youngster Ante Coric.

The Reds were heavily linked with Coric over the summer, with the Daily Mail reporting in June that Coric, was 'keen to join Liverpool".

Soon after, Croatian newspaper 24 Sata claimed that Liverpool made an officia; offer for Coric, who wanted to 'sign for Liverpool'.

Now, according to Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato:

"Liverpool are planning to try again to sign Ante Coric. Manchester City are also following the Croatian youngster".

Some info about €30m-rated Coric, hailed by former Dinamo boss Zoran Mamic as 'better than Modric':

* Attacking midfielder (central), who can also play in central midfield. Current contract expires: 2020.

* Zagreb: 33 goals/assists in 90 apps (One every 151 mins). 2 apps for Croatia.

* May 2016: Croatian newspaper Sportski Novoski claimed that Klopp personally called Coric to discuss a transfer.

I still don't get why Coric needs to leave Zagreb at the age of 19. Football is littered with cautionary tales of overhyped teenagers who signed for massive clubs far too early, and then ended up on the scrapheap and/or behind in their development. In Coric's case:

* He's already a Croatia international, and a first-team regular.

* Zagreb are in the Champions League every season, which will allow Coric to test himself against the best whilst he's developing his game.

Additionally, Liverpool are overloaded with number-10s, and it's doubtful that Coric will consistently get in the team ahead of Firmino, Coutinho, Mane, and Klopp's favourite, Adam Lallana.

If Coric wants to stunt his development, then he should sign for Liverpool. If he wants to continue playing first-team football every week, with the bonus of Champions League football, he should stay in Zagreb.

That said, if Coutinho leaves this summer, there will be a huge void to fill...
