Anfield Hero: Gary Lineker hails 'wonderful' €30m star for 'outstanding' Liverpool performance

England legend Gary Lineker has hailed Man United savour David De Gea for his stunning performance last night at Anfield.

Reacting to the game, Lineker enthused:

"What a wonderful goalkeeper David de Gea is. Two outstanding saves [against Liverpool".

As soon as the ball left Coutinho's foot, I (like many fans, I'm sure) expected De Gea to be pulling the ball out of the net, but unfortunately, the Spanish 'keeper showed his brilliance once again.

To be fair, for all the plaudits De Gea received, his record this season is exactly the same as Mignolet/Karius:

* De Gea: 10 goals conceded in 10 games (One every 90 mins - 3 clean sheets)

* Karius/Mignolet: 10 goals conceded in 10 games (One every 90 mins - 3 clean sheets)

De Gea - who has a £30m release clause in his contract - pulled off a stunning save against Coutinho, but Mignolet produced a similarly fantastic save against Leicester, and stopped a penalty against Arsenal.

Obviously, I'm not arguing that Mignolet and Karius are in the same class, but when you cut through all the hype, Liverpool's goalkeepers are doing just as well as De Gea this season (when it comes primary stats).

^ Neuer: Hailed as 'world-class' by Joachim Loew.
