Sign for Liverpool? Agent confirms 'excellent' €65m sensation wanted by Klopp 'will leave' soon

Over the summer, Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for Wolfsburg attacker Julian Draxler, and it looks like the Reds will get another chance to seal the deal next summer.

When asked on Saturday about Draxler's future, his agent, Fabio Parisi, confirmed:

“He [Draxler] will definitely leave Wolfsburg at the end of the season. Over the summer, Paris Saint-Germain offered nearly €65m [for Draxler]. I repeat: Draxler will leave.”

You don't get any clearer that that! In August, Draxler himself has also confirmed his intention to quit Wolfsburg:

"I want to leave Wolfsburg. I was verbally assured that I can leave the club when given opportunities. I would like to go to a top international club".

Some info about Draxler:

* 22-year old attacking midfielder, who can also play on either wing. Current contract expires: 2020.

* Wolfsburg: 50/50 split between playing on the wing (mainly left), and playing as a number-10.

* Schalke/Wolfsburg: 38 goals/37 assists (75) in 170 apps (Goal every 361 mins. G/A every 183 mins). 2 goals in 26 games for Germany.

* This Season: 0 goals/assists in 7 apps. Hasn't scored a goal for 12 games.

* Jun 2016: Michael Ballack's assessment: "Julian Draxler is an excellent player, but he also needs three or four meters of space to do his dribbling".

The idea of Draxler is appealing (tall, powerful German international), but his overall creative return is simply not good enough. Granted, he's only 22, but a goal every 361 minutes in the Bundesliga is average, and is not an upgrade on Liverpool's current attackers.

Plus, €65m+ is a total rip-off. Draxler cost £30m only a year ago, and he's arguably achieved little in the last twelve months to justify a 96% increase in transfer value.

In my view, Draxler is displaying rank disloyalty towards Wolfsburg here. He signed a five-year deal last summer, and just over a year later, he's pushing to leave. That's modern football for you, though - money talks, and as Man City's £37m deal for Leroy Sane shows, every player has a price.

Should Liverpool try and sign Draxler next summer?
