Decision Made: Klopp to ignore 'fantastic' £60k-a-week Liverpool star against Leicester. Mistake?

After a month out injured with a broken hand, Loris Karius is back in training and pushing to start Saturday's Premier League clash with Leicester City. Unfortunately for the German 'stopper, it looks like Jurgen Klopp is set to stick with Simon Mignolet this weekend.

Last week, Karius claimed that he will be 'fine' to face Leicester, but according to the Liverpool Echo:

"Mignolet is set to retain his place for Saturday’s [game] with Leicester. Karius returned to training this week [but] Klopp is unlikely to change his keeper".

In the long-term, Mignolet needs to be replaced, but right now, sticking with him for the Leicester game is clearly the most prudent course of action.

Karius is clearly chomping at the bit to get in the team, but broken bones cannot be rushed, and I imagine it'll be at least another month before he's ready to usurp the Belgian between the sticks.

The worst thing Klopp can do is rush Karius into the team and risk aggravating the injury.

On the plus side, Karius's imminent return from injury may have a galvanising impact on Mignolet, who may up his game even more in a bid to keep his place.

* Reportedly on £60k-a-week
