Collymore blasts: £34m Brazil star is one of Prem's 'worst' ever players in his position. Harsh?

Last week, Jamie Carragher insisted that much-maligned David Luiz has the quality to be a success at Stamford Bridge, but ex-Red Stan Collymore appears to disagree, and he's delivered a damning assessment of £34m Chelsea signing.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Carra noted:

"He can make something happen or contribute a big moment. He's erratic but has quality".

In a recent column for The Mirror, Collymore slated Luiz's 'poor' distribution, and scathed:

"I can’t help but laugh that he [Luiz] has commanded more than £100m in fees when he's one of the worst central defenders in Premier League history".

In my view, Collymore is far too harsh on Luiz (who cost Chelsea £34m).

* You don't win the Champions League and Europa League with one of the Prems 'words defenders' as a mainstay.

* Plus, in his three years at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea conceded 112 goals in the Prem. Liverpool conceded 133 in the same period, so if Luiz is one of the Prem's 'worst ever', what does that make LFC's defenders?

Clearly, Collymore has never seen the likes of Bjorn Tore Kvarme or Torben Piechnik play. I still Kvarme being mugged by Danny Cadamarteri in this 2-0 defeat to Everton *shudder*.
