Anfield Alert: 73% of Liverpool fans insist Klopp must start 'exceptional' £30m LFC star ahead of Firmino.

Last week, Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler insisted that £30m-rated Daniel Sturridge should always be ahead of Roberto Firmino in the centre-forward pecking order, but what do fans think about this?

When asked last week who should be Liverpool's top option for for the central striker role, Fowler - without hesitation - insisted:

"I would go for Sturridge. Firmino is a very good player, but Sturridge is exceptional".

I conducted a poll asking fans who should be Liverpool's first-choice striker, and the results were emphatic:

* 73% of fans participating fans selected Sturridge over Firmino.

Thankfully, Jurgen Klopp got the memo this weekend, and started Sturridge as a centre-forward against Leicester, and the team reaped the rewards.

The obvious irony is that Sturridge didn't actually score during the game, despite being played in his preferred position, but if history proves anything, it's this: play Sturridge consistently as a centre-forward and he will score/create goals:

* Sturridge (as CF only): 47 goals/18 assists (65) in 81 apps (Goal every 130 mins. Goal/assist every 94 mins).

As a centre-forward, Firmino averages a goal every 207 mins, so Sturridge is obviously the best solution.
