Done Deal: Liverpool seal one-year transfer for 'outstanding' international with 'pace and quality'

Academy players are dropping like flies this summer, and 21-year old right-back Ryan McLaughlin is the latest youngster to end up on the Anfield scrapheap.

According to a statement today on Oldham Athletic's official website:

"Manager Steve Robinson has secured the services of Ryan McLaughlin on a one-year contract, with option of a further year. Mclaughlin joins from Premier League side Liverpool"

McLaughlin is the latest victim of Liverpool's ongoing Academy purge, and he joins the following players sh^tcanned or farmed out on loan this summer:

* Rossiter, Sinclair, Vigoroux, Canos, Teixeira, Smith, Ward, Kent, Allan, Fulton, Brannagan, Jones, Flanagan, Ibe and Dunn.

After sealing the deal, Robinson enthused:

“Ryan is a lad I’ve known since the age of 12 so he brings a lot of pace, energy and quality. He’s had a good grounding at Liverpool so we are looking for Ryan to make a big impact".

According to Liverpool U21 coach Michael Beale, McLaughlin - who has four caps for Northern Ireland - is an 'outstanding' talent, but he's clearly not 'outstanding' enough to remain part of Jurgen Klopp's plans.

On a related note: Klopp seems to be hellbent on getting rid of every full-back at the club...except the one (Moreno) who really needs to go. In recent weeks, Flanagan, Smith, and McLaughlin have been dumped or loaned, yet Moreno survives, with Connor Randall his only real competition.

Klopp surely has to sign another left-back this month...right?
