Contact Made: Liverpool pushing to seal move for 'wonderful' £20m international. Player offered but deal rejected

On Monday, multiple reports claimed that Liverpool are keen to send 'wonderful' Reds defender Mamadou Sakho on loan, and new reports today suggest that the Reds have made contact with at least one Premier League club.

Last night, the Daily Mail reported:

"Liverpool are considering letting Mamadou Sakho leave Anfield on loan. [Klopp] would not stand in his way if a suitable move that suited all parties arose".

Today, the Mail further claims:

"Sunderland have turned down an option to sign Mamadou Sakho on loan. Liverpool made him available, but David Moyes is looking for a different style of player".

The obvious question here is this: did Liverpool offer Sakho^ to Sunderland with or without the defender's knowledge?

Joe Allen recently admitted that found out about his Stoke transfer via a friend's text message (!), so it won't surprise me in the slightest if Liverpool are trying to dump Sakho on the sly.

Either way, I doubt Sakho is shedding any tears over Sunderland's alleged rejection. I'm sure he'd rather stay at Anfield and fight for his place than be press-ganged into playing for Premier League relegation fodder.

Sakho appears to popular amongst the Liverpool fanbase, so Klopp et al would be wise to ensure that any potential exit is handled in a respectful manner (unlike with Allen, who was arguably treated with disrespect).
