Klopp to Sign? Liverpool battling Man Utd for 'excellent' €20m attacker with 39 goals/assists for Braga

In February, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp bemoaned the lack of bonafide wingers at the club, and new reports this week suggest that the Reds are taking steps to rectify this situation in the summer.

According to The Mirror:

"With Jordon Ibe's future uncertain at Anfield...Liverpool are set to battle [with Man Utd] for Braga winger Rafa Silva".

Some info about Silva, hailed as 'excellent' by Braga boss Paulo Fonseca:

* 22-year old left-winger, who can also play on the right. Current contract expires in 2019, and contains a €20m buyout clause.

* Braga: 22 goals/17 assists (39) in 118 games (Goal every 407 mins. G/A every 229 mins). 5 apps for the Portugal national team.

* This season: 9 goals/8 assists in 45 games (One every 198 mins)

Feb 2016: Braga boss Paulo Fonseca raved: "Braga is not dependent on any player, but Rafa Silva has massive importance to the team".

There's little point continuing; In my view, Silva's creative stats are not good enough for Liverpool. New players coming in need should ideally be upgrades on existing members of the squad, and based on his primary stats, Silva is not a player who can take Liverpool to the next level.

In my view, it's ridiculous to spend €20m on a player who scores every 407 minutes, especially when there are plenty of wingers out there with far superior stats (i.e Yarmolenko). Liverpool did the same with Markovic, who had similarly poor stats at Benfica, and look how that turned out.

Thanks, but no thanks.
