Klopp to Sign? 'Top-class' £25m international wanted by Liverpool confirms 'big' transfer 'decision' is imminent

Over the weekend, Reds hero Stephane Henchoz urged Liverpool to consider signing Borussua Dortmund star Mats Hummels this summer, and according to the man himself, a transfer away from BVB appears to be a strong possibility.

When asked about the possibility of a Liverpool this summer, Henchoz told TalkSport:

“Will Hummels want to come to Liverpool? He is very comfortable on the ball. Very good in the air, and he is a top-class defender. He is somebody that Liverpool probably want to bring in.”

Liverpool are currently linked with a move for Hummels, and speaking to German newspaper Bild this week, the £25m-rated German international confirmed that he's considering a transfer:

"I have to make a big decision. I have been back and forth a lot. Age gives you a feeling that you don't have forever to win. I realise in every year I don't win a title, I'm closer to retiring".

If winning titles is Hummels' aim, then a transfer to Anfield is (unfortunately) the wrong career move. Liverpool haven't won a league title in 26 years, and have only qualified for the Champions League once in the last six years. Sad but true.

Things may change under Klopp, but with Guardiola at Man City next; Mourinho (probably) joining Man Utd; Conte at Chelsea; Wenger at Arsenal (which means automatic CL qualification), and Spurs, West Ham, and Leicester all improving, it'll be massively difficult for Liverpool to break into the top four, let alone mount a sustained challenger for the title.

Reds legend Mark Lawrenson recently claimed that Klopp has 'doubts about Hummels' ability to make it in the Premier League, but I'd personally love to see him at Anfield.
