Anfield Boost: £32m Liverpool 'powerhouse' close to 'full fitness' again. Surprise return against Villareal?

At the start if April, Liverpool 'powerhouse' Christian Benteke suffered a collateral ligament injury whilst on international duty with Belgium, and after three weeks on the sidelines, it appears that the £32m striker is on the verge of returning to action.

According to Kristof Terreur, a journalist for Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws:

"Christian Benteke^ is close to full fitness after his knee injury".

With Origi injured, and some massive games coming up, this is a great time for Benteke to return.

However, with Daniel Sturridge in great form, and Firmino available, it's hard to see how Benteke is going to get significant game time on his return.

First, he won't be fully match-fit, so he'll have to work himself back into shape.

Second, Sturridge and Firmino are way ahead of Benteke in the pecking order, so if/when he returns, the Belgian will probably resume his bit-part status.

Irrespective of his marginalisation this year, I'm sure Benteke has his eye on playing some part in the upcoming Europa League semi-final (and beyond that, the final itself).

Cometh the hour, cometh the man?
