Massive Deal: Madrid ready to agree £37m transfer with Liverpool for 'powerhouse' attacker

After being marginalised and 'ignored' by Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool 'powerhouse' Christian Benteke is currently at outcast at Anfield, but his talents appears to be appreciated elsewhere, and Atletico Madrid are the latest club to (allegedly) express an interest in the Belgian striker.

Last month, multiple reports claimed that West Ham are willing to spend up to £40m on Benteke this summer, and according to Sky Sports today:

"Atletico Madrid are preparing a big-money summer move for Christian Benteke [and] are willing to spend £37m to bring him to the Vicente Calderon".

Diego Simeone and Slaven Bilic are no mugs, so why are they reportedly willing to spend so much to land a player who - according to many Liverpool fans - is only good for getting on the end of lofted crosses into the box (total nonsense).

In my view, it's obvious: unlike Klopp, Simeone and Bilic probably know how to utilise Benteke effectively, and they'll almost certainly have a specific plan in place to integrate him into their respective teams.

Like me (and many other Liverpool fans) they probably can't understand how Klopp can't get anything out of a striker who - prior to his Liverpool transfer - contributed 62 goals/assists in 101 games for Aston Villa.

Additionally, neither West Ham nor Atletico are long-ball teams; both try and play good, attacking football, which - if the stories are true - means Bilic and Simeone believe that Benteke can fit into that style of play.

Irrespective of Benteke's performance for Liverpool, if the Reds can get £37m for him, it's fantastic business.
