'New Zidane' to Liverpool? Klopp wants €20m 'beast' hailed as 'exceptional' by Wenger

Despite Liverpool's uptick in form over the last few games, attacking reinforcements are still required in the summer, and the latest name to enter fray is Valencia attacker Sofiane Feghouli, who is (dubiously) nicknamed the 'New Zidane'.

In May 2014, Sky Sports claimed:

"Scouts from Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus, Real Madrid and Inter Milan have all been checking on Feghouli".

According to TalkSport this week:

"Liverpool and Manchester United are among five clubs chasing Sofiane Feghouli's signature this summer. Liverpool and United have scouted the 26-year-old regularly this year".

When asked in February about his future, Feghouli told reporters:

"I have always said I want to continue the adventure in Valencia, I am very happy here in this championship, this city I like, plus the fans are behind me".

* 26-year old right-winger, whose current contract expires in June 2016. Release clause: €20m.

* 31 goals/40 assists in 195 apps for Valencia (Goal every 410 mins. Goal/assist every 179 mins).

* 5 injuries since the 2013/14 season (91 days out/16 games missed).

* Dec 2015: Voted "Best African Player in La Liga' by Liga de Fútbol Profesional (LFP).

* Arsene Wenger's assessment: "Feghouli is physical beast, will, and he has great technical qualities. When you see what he does on the field, he is exceptional. We're all looking for players of his quality"

Thanks, but no thanks. Having watched Feghouli play many times, he's clearly an exciting player, but his end product is not good enough. One goal every 410 minutes is poor, and Liverpool already have enough attacking midfielders who fail to score on a consistent basis.
