I Want LFC: £9m striker confirms he'd like to 'play for Liverpool'. Offer made this week

Liverpool are reportedly considering a summer move for River Plate star Lucas Alario, and it appears that the Argentine striker is keen to sign for the Reds.

During a televised interview on Wednesday with Argentine TV channel TyC Sports, the interviewer told Alario that 'a little bird from Liverpool told me that they are following you'. Alario responded:

'Tell him to contact me'.

Then, when further pressed about Liverpool's interest, Alario noted:

"Given the choice, I'd like to experience the Premier League, and I'd like to play for Liverpool. I always select them when I play football on the Playstation".

Argentine news portal Infobae further claims that:

* Liverpool contacted River plate this week to discuss the possibility of a transfer,

* The Reds allegedly made an $8m [£6m] offer, but River Plate are holding out for $12m.

Some info about 23-year old Alario:

* Centre-forward, who can also play as a secondary striker, or a left-winger. Current contract expires in 2018.

* 15 goals/assists in 22 apps for River Plate (One every 117 mins)

* Dec 2015: Played against Barcelona in the World Club Cup Final (River lost 3-0).

* Apart from a dislocated shoulder earlier this season, Alario has remained injury free since 2011.

Like Marko Grujic, Alario is cheap, comparatively unknown, and under the radar, which means he fits Jurgen Klopp's (historical) transfer template. Worth a bid?
