'One of the Best: Aldo hails 'world-class' £30m star and insists he'll leave for 'Real Madrid'

Over the course of two Europa League games, Liverpool beat Manchester United 3-1 on aggregate, but it could've been much worse for Louis Van Gaal's team, and it would've been without the brilliance of David De Gea. The allegedly 'world-class' Spanish 'stopper saved United on numerous occasions, and according to Reds legend John Aldridge, De Gea is one of the world's top 'keepers.

In his Thursday column for Sunday World (yes, you read that right!), Aldo raved:

"David de Gea is clearly one of the best goal keepers in the world, but...he will be off to Real Madrid sooner rather than later".

The 3-1 aggregate scoreline flatters United. Liverpool should've been out of sight after the first leg, but De Gea made six excellent saves at Anfield, and then kept the Reds out at Old Trafford with another six saves.

With better finished, Liverpool could've scored 8 or 9 goals across the two legs, but it wasn't to be, and De Gea is largely responsible for keeping the scoreline respectable.

De Gea almost signed for Real Madrid last season, and I hope and pray Los Blancos trigger his £30m release clause this summer.

Anything that weakens this already ailing Man Utd team is a positive for Liverpool, and losing the Spaniard will leave a massive void at the heart of United's defence.

That said, if Jose Mourinho takes over, he's high profile enough to persuade De Gea to stay, so here's hoping that appointment falls through, and United decide to keep Van Gaal for another year ;-)
