Anfield Exit? 'Fantastic' £65k-a-week LFC star admits he may quit Liverpool if 'offers' come in

This season, 'fantastic' Liverpool veteran Kolo Toure is one of the Reds' most consistently effective defenders, and although he doesn't play many games, the Ivorian is proving to be a reliable back-up amidst the seemingly constant injuries to the Reds' senior centre-halves. Toure's contract expires at the end of the season, and he's admitted this week that leaving Anfield this summer is a possibility.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Toure mused:

“I’ve not had any offers for next season yet. If I keep playing like I am at the moment then I’m sure doors will open for me.”

On the subject of staying at Liverpool, Toure described the club as 'amazing', and revealed his desire to stay at the club:

“If I keep performing that will force [Liverpool] to change their minds [about a new contract]".

The arrival of Joel Matip appears to be the final nail in Toure's Anfield coffin, but a poll on the site this week shows that Liverpool fans still have great faith in him to do a job for the team:

In my view, it's a no-brainer: Toure is still good enough to play for Liverpool, and he's proven that this season; his experience and enthusiasm are invaluable, and he's one of the only members of the squad with experience of winning big trophies.

Another key point is that Toure is clearly willing to be a squad player, and that's half the battle. If he's offered a new contract, though, I doubt it'll be at his current rate of £65k-a-week, so he'll probably have to take a pay-cut to realise his dream of staying at the club.
