Anfield-bound? Liverpool can sign 'spectacular' Barca star for £20m. Offer made. Talks held already with LFC 'leadership'

Last week, Liverpool handed calamity 'keeper Simon Mignolet a new (and arguably undeserved) contract, but after another shaky performance against Norwich - during which he conceded 4 goals - it appears that the Belgian's position may be as safe as thew new deal suggests.

According to The Telegraph today:

"Jurgen Klopp has offered the Marc-Andre Ter Stegen the opportunity to...move to Anfield. Liverpool had a £10m bid rejected with Barcelona keen to hold out for closer to £20m".

Transfer Timeline:

Feb 2015: The Independent reported: "Liverpool are hoping to sign up-and-coming talent Mark Andre ter Stegen."

Oct 2015: Spanish newspaper Sport claimed that Klopp is 'not convinced' by Mignolet, and wants to bring in ter Stegen as the club's number-one goalkeeper.

Nov 2015: Italian newspaper Tutto Mercato reported that Klopp 'discussed' a possible ter Stegen transfer with Liverpool's 'leadership'.

Nov 2015: Don Balon added: "Klopp wants Liverpool to sign ter Stegen on loan for two years, with an option to purchase".

ter Stegen is in and out of the team the season (unused sub in 12 of the last 17 Barca games), and hasn't started a league game since September, but Luis Enrique seems satisfied, though, and after Barcelona's 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen in December, he raved:

"Marc was spectacular, really solid and he gave the appearance of dominating the goal area. The performance reinforces him".

ter Stegen's primary stats for Barcelona are also very good:

* Barca total: 37 goals conceded in 36 games = 1 every 88 mins.

* Mignolet: 1 every 76 mins.

* 13 clean sheets (36% of games = 1 every 251 mins).

* Mignolet: 1 every 288 mins.

As the primary stats show, ter Stegen concedes goals less often than Mignolet, and achieves clean sheets on a more regular basis.

Is he worth £20m, or is Timo Horn a better and/or cheaper option?
