Anfield-bound: Klopp brings in 'fantastic' star who wants to be 'at Liverpool'. Replace Bogdan?

With Liverpool's injury crisis in full swing, Jurgen Klopp is recalling the club's players at an increasing rate of knots, and the latest loanee to return is promising goalkeeper Danny Ward.

According to the BBC:

"Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has decided to take [Danny Ward] back to Anfield".

With 12 clean sheets, Ward has had a superb season for Aberdeen, and when asked in December about his Anfield future, the 22-year old made it clear that he's gunning for Mignolet's place in the starting line-up. He mused:

"[It's my] ambition to be Liverpool's first-choice. I have a self-belief where I think I can play at the highest level. Ideally that's at Liverpool, and long term, I would love to be their No 1".

Ward - described as 'fantastic' by Aberdeen team-mate Scott Brown - recently spent a couple of days training under Jurgen Klopp at Melwood, and after working with the German, he noted:

"[He's] a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed the sessions and the players are enjoying working with him".

Aberdeen are currently second in the Scottish Premier League table, just three points behind league leaders Celtic, and Ward is an integral part of the club's climb to the top end of the table.

WARD vs. MIGNOLET

Goals Conceded

* DW: 29 in 29 games (1 every 90 mins)

* SM: 25 in 26 games (1 every 93 mins)

Clean Sheets

* DW: 12 in 29 games (41% of games/1 every 217 mins)

* SM: 10 in 25 games (40% of games/1 every 234 mins)

Shot-Stopping

* DW: Saved 70% of shots on target.

* SM: Saved 63% of shots on target.

As you can see, Ward compares favourably with Mignolet this season, and he exceeds the Belgian when it comes to shot-stopping/minutes per clean sheet.

With Adam Bogdan doing his best to blow every first-team opportunity he receives, there's clearly scope for Ward to step-up and take the number 2 spot, and perhaps even challenge Mignolet over the remainder of the season...
