'Liverpool are interested': After talks with LFC, €50m goal-machine confirms Anfield transfer is possible

On Friday, The Guardian claimed that Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre flew out to the USA to submit an official offer for Shakhtar Donetesk star Alex Teixeira. Ayre returned without sealing the deal, but the Brazilian attacker - who, according to Shakhtar owner, is worth €50m - has now confirmed that he's being tracked by the Reds.

Speaking to Globesporte today, Teixeira admitted that he wants to 'play in the Premier League' for a 'big club' in a bid to achieve his goal of winning a 'place in the Brazil squad'. He further added:

"I am aware that two big clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea are interested but I haven’t given my word to either of them. I want a challenge and to further my career there [in the Prem]"

So, the interest is real, though when asked on Friday about Teixeira, Jurgen Klopp refused to divulge any information about the proposed deal.

Some info about Teixeira:

* 26-year old attacking midfielder, who can also play as a right or left-winger.

* Shakhtar Totals: 89 goals/26 assists in 223 games (Goal/assist ever 133 mins)

* This season: 26 goals/5 assists in 26 games (Goal/assist every 75 mins)

* Suffered only two minor injuries during his entire career, but suffered a hamstring injury on the day the Liverpool story broke.

As noted in a previous article, I have reservations about this transfer due to Teixeira's lack of height/raw power. Liverpool have too many smaller attackers, and some variety is needed in attacking areas.

However, I've now changed my mind. If Teixeira signs, it will almost certainly mean the beginning of the end for Adam Lallana. As such, I now want this transfer with every fibre of my being.

Bring it on :-)
