New Transfer: Liverpool Chief flies out to sign 'excellent' £5m powerhouse. Done Deal soon?

It seems increasingly likely that Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grucic will be Jurgen Klopp's first signing for Liverpool. The 'excellent' 19-year old midfielder dropped a massive transfer hint this week, and new reports today suggest that the Reds have taken another concrete step to seal the deal.

According to The Mirror today:

"Ian Ayre [has flown] to Belgrade to finalise a £5m deal for Marko Grujic. Liverpool...will immediately loan him out to Red Star for the rest of the season".

Liverpool transfer timeline:

Dec 8: Grucic confirmed that he'd had a 'talk with Liverpool' about a transfer to Anfield.

Dec 14: Serbian newspaper Mondo claimed that Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign 'excellent' Grucic.

Dec 15: Serbian sports portal Telegraf claimed: "Marko Grujic was agreed all terms with Liverpool. The transfer should soon be formalized".

Dec 16: Grucic dropped a massive hint that the deal is done.

This type of signing fits Klopp's transfer MO: cheap, relatively unknown, and capable of being moulded into a top-class player. Unfortunately, Liverpool fans will have to wait another nine months to see Grucic in action in a competitive game.

Let's hope he's worth the wait.
