Contact Made: Liverpool submit offer for 'exceptional' €11m international with amazing stats. Replace Mignolet?

Another day, another goalkeeper linked with Liverpool, and this time, it's Paris St. German 'stopper Salvatore Sirigu in the transfer crosshairs.

According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport this week:

"Salvatore Sirigu is Jurgen Klopp's number-one transfer target to reinforce Liverpool".

Footmercato further adds:

"A source close to the player claims that Liverpool have contacted Sirigu's representatives with an offer. The Reds are even ready to offer some guarantees of playing time".

PSG are definitely willing to let €11m-rated Sirigu leave, and deputy sporting director Olivier Letang confirmed this earlier in the season:

"If Salvatore Sirigu wants to leave, and feels his playing time won't be enough between now and [Euro 2016], we won't stand in his way".

Some info about Sirigu:

* 28-year old goalkeeper. Current contract expires in June 2018. Averages 45 games a season over the last five years.

* Currently sidelined by PSG, and has made just TWO appearances this season (both of which resulted in clean sheets).

* 15 appearances for the Italy national team.

* PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi's assessment: "We are very proud...of Salvatore, an exceptional goalkeeper and a remarkable human being".

Al-Khalaifi is right - Sirigu is an 'exceptional' performer for PSG, and when it comes to primary stats, he's a clear upgrade on Mignolet:

SIRIGU vs. MIGNOLET

Goals Conceded

* SS: 143 conceded in 180 games at PSG (0.8 per game/1 every 113 mins)

* SM: 138 conceded in 117 games at LFC (1.2 per games/1 every 77 mins)

Clean Sheets

* SS: 79 in 143 games (55% of games/1 every 204 mins).

* SM: 36 in 117 games (30% of games/1 every 295 mins)

Shot-Stopping (Last 3 seasons)

* SS: Saved 76% of shots on target.

* SM: Saved 67% of shots target.

Clearly, Sirigu is too good to be wasting away on the bench.

Any goalkeeper who consistently concedes less than one goal a game (and keeps a clean sheet more than 50% of the time) is worth a serious look. In the last 3 seasons alone, Sirigu has kept 63 clean sheets in 139 apps (1 every 198 mins).

Of all the goalkeepers linked with Liverpool over the last year, only Timo Horn comes close to this level of consistency and effectiveness.

Worth a bid?
