Done Deal: After Klopp contact, Liverpool to sign €6m playmaker who's 'like Pogba'

Last week, Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic confirmed that he'd held talks with Liverpool over a possible January transfer, and new reports today claim that the Reds have agreed a deal to sign the 19-year old starlet.

According to Serbian newspaper Mondo:

"Liverpool have agreed to pay six million [Euros] for Marko Grujic, and to leave him at Red Star until August next year".

The story so far:

* Nov 2015: The Liverpool Echo claimed that Liverpool held 'productive talks' with Grujic, and that Klopp is 'keen to sign' him".

* Dec 2015: Liverpool Reds watched Grujic score in Red Star’s recent 7-2 thrashing of Cukaricki.

* Dec 2015: Grujic confirmed discussions with Liverpool: “I had a talk with Liverpool but I did not receive yet any agreement.”

* Dec 2015: Serbian journalist Vlastimir Stevanovic claimed: "Klopp has called Grujic a couple of times to express his desire to bring him to LFC".

Some info about Grujic:

* Central midfielder, who can also players as a DM. Current contract expire: 2018

* Jun 2015: Part of the Serbia squad that won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.

* Serbia U19 coach Zeljko Paunovic's assessment: “Great mentality. Much more than a playmaker. Better suited as a winger or behind the striker”.

* Paunovic also added: "Excellent vision; great passing game; great game intelligence. He would also be great at playing a deeper role, like Pogba".

In my view, Grujic is making a giant mistake. He's a regular at Red Star, so why not just stay there for another two years, develop (physically and mentally), and then make the big move.

Additionally, his stated goal is to get Red Star into the Champions League, and if he achieves that this season, what's the point in leaving the club and missing out on that?

It'll be even worse for him if Red Star make it into the Champions League, and Liverpool fail to do so (!)

Whatever happens, all I can say is...welcome to the Liverpool bench, Marko!
